This was the second year for Mississippi’s Strongest Man. It was held at Revolution Fitness located in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. There were 37 total athletes this year (5 women, 32 men). We’d like to thank our sponsors, Revolution Fitness 24/7, YICompete (Scott Reid), Bust Out Apparel Designs (BOAD/Jared Daigre), Etch&Sketch Glassworx, LLC, Wolfpack Athletics Strength & Conditioning, Cassady-Acadia Land Surveying, LLC, The Print Shed.

Some highlights from the contest was Masters athlete Chris Jacheo had knee surgery back in October 2017. This was his first competition since the surgery and took 1st place! Natalie Berg competed here in 2017 in the novice division as her first show. She competed in the open division this year and traded 1st/2nd place after each event. Pro bodybuilder and Co-Owner of Revolution Fitness, Amanda Micka, competed for the first time this year (in spite of her recent lower back injury) and placed 2nd overall. Justin Sones, Thomas Martin’s training partner (the 1st place winner of the Open Men HW division), decided the day before during weigh-ins to compete. He took 2nd place. Masters athlete A J Schroeder competed for the first time. He had half his colon removed back in November 2017.

John & Amanda Micka, co-owners of Revolution Fitness 24/7, have been critical to the success of the event these past two years. Their willingness to assist in every way possible is a true blessing and it shows on the faces of the athletes and staff.
